“Incredible India” is not only a saying but a fact too. India is treasured with many instructive materials.  It owes a lot to the world in terms of invention and has always been a step ahead while talking about invention. So here are some rare and interesting facts about India:

Bandra-Worli sea link located in Mumbai, also known as Rajiv Gandhi Sea link has steel wires equal to the circumference of Earth. It weighs as much as 50,000 African elephants. Its construction was completed in 2,57,00,000 man hours. The length of the sea link is 63 times of the height of Qutub Minar.

A ground from Himachal Pradesh built in 1893 with a height of 2,444 meters is the world’s highest cricket ground and currently, it is a part of Chail Military School in Himachal Pradesh.

Shampoo was invented in India with the use of natural herb which was converted into commercial liquids later. The original word for shampoo was “champu” which means massage.

Water on the moon was discovered by India first in year September 2009. ISRO Chandrayaan-1 was the first to declare water on the moon.

On May 26 Switzerland uses to celebrate Science day as, on 26th Dr. APJ ABDUL KALAM, the father of India’s missile program visited Switzerland in 2006.

The first rocket of India was so light weighted that it was transported on cycle to the Thumba Launching Station in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.

After the USA, India is the second largest country when it comes to English speaking. With 125 million people speaking English, which is just 10 percent of the total population of India. It is expected to grow with years.

India is the only country with the maximum number of vegetarian, maybe it is because of religious, dharma or personal reasons. Around 40 percent of the total population is vegetarian of the country making it a residence of the largest number of vegetarians.

India is the largest producer of milk which currently took over the European Union with 132.4 million tons units of milk production in 2014.

India was the first country to invent the procedure of extraction and refining sugar from sugar canes. Techniques were first invented in India only.  Many western and European countries had learned the cultivation and refining procedure from India only.

National anthem of Bangladesh “Amar Sonar Bangla” was written by Rabindranath Tagore. He was also offered knighthood by Britishers but he refused because of Jalianwala Bagh incident.

When the first astronaut from India Rakesh Sharma went to space, the prime minister at that time Indira Gandhi asked about how does  India look like from space, he answered “saare jahan se achcha”.

Diamonds were firstly found in India near the alluvial deposits in Guntur and Krishna district of Krishna River Delta. India was the leading country in the production of diamond too. The world’s famous Kohinoor Diamond belongs to the origin of India.

Snakes and ladders the most popular board game was originated in India to teach children about karma. Earlier it was known as Moksha Patamu also


In history, the most popular mathematicians were Indian. Trigonometry, quadratic equations, zero,  place value and decimal system, Pythagoras theorem, time taken to orbit the sun, navigation, and power values were all invented by India only.

Shakuntala Devi as human calculator from India is famous all over the world. She answered 13 digits multiple calculations correctly within 28 seconds only.
